Notes
Approximately 2,000 hogs in four barns (two barns de-populated)with wastes treated in a single stage lagoon. There was over 2 feet of freeboard, levee condition was good and the lagoon was fenced with warning signs. A kit was maintained with sampling bottles from TEC Laboratories in case of discharge. All records required by the upcoming permit are already being maintained with the addition of plant tissue analysis for nutrient values that represents the quantity of nutrients taken out of the soil by his crops and leaving the farm. Mr. Turbeville has a clear understanding of his Nutrient Budgeting and goes beyond the minimum standards at this facility. In addition, he is testing the soil for nutrients annually, which is beyond that required in his permit and NMP.
