Notes
This inspection covers the time from October 2021 to September 2024. A copy of the permit was present on site. Ashland City is currently developing a new wastewater treatment facility with a design capacity of 2.0 MGD to replace this existing STP; it is tentatively scheduled to be completed in June 2025. Comments and attachments are required regarding violations when reported from MORs and DMRs and were reiterated.
Solid debris collected on bar screens at the headworks is collected in a dumpster and transferred to a landfill. The grit removal system was not in operation during this inspection. Additional, manual, screens are in place to assist in the removal of additional debris and grit and are transferred to the same dumpster. Light-colored foam within the oxidation ditch and trace amounts of pin floc in both clarifiers were observed. There was a considerable amount of grit, floc, and algae in the chlorine contact chamber. However, it was contained within the structure and is managed by staff removing the material with a skimmer and placed into trash containers. The effluent leaving the contact chamber was clear and free of solids with no noticeable odors during the time of the inspection. Work logs are retained in the facility’s main office and detail the O&M.
The Division provided guidance and corrections regarding lab methods detailed in the letter, including annual analysis of reagent water regarding potential concerns e.g., BOD toxicity.
