Notes
Inspection conducted as a routine inspection. Facility was maintaining all required records however, records of manure transfers were not recorded on the appropriate record forms. Facility had land application records which were completed by Mr. Mike Turbeville when he exported manure wastewater from the facility. All manure wastewater exported from the facility went to Mr. Turbeville. The amount of manure exported from the facility could be calculated using the daily land application records from Mr. Mike Turbeville. Discussed with Mr. and Mrs. Perkins the appropriate record forms to document manure transfers and showed them where the record forms could be found in their NPDES permit. Rain gauge was installed at the facility. Depth marker was present in the wastewater lagoon and there was over 4 feet of freeboard at time of inspection. Mortalities are composted in a covered compost shed. Sawdust is used as the carbon source. There were no uncovered hog remains observed and there was no leachate observed leaving the compost shed. Discussed adding some gravel to the area in front of the compost shed as it had become muddy and ruts were starting to form. Annual manure analysis was done in 2022. Discussed an annual manure analysis will need to be done in 2023 prior to exporting manure wastewater from the facility. Also discussed 2022 Annual Report is due by February 15th. Indicated to contact Mr. John Newberry for assistance with completing the Annual Report electronically.
