Notes
Inspection conducted as a result of a complaint we received regarding manure leaking from Tosh Farms tanker trucks as they were hauling manure from the facility.
Facility had a copy of their CAFO permit and TDA approved Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan. Facility was as described in the CNMP. A rain gauge is installed on the south side of the hog barns. Facility was maintaining daily rainfall records, daily waterline inspections, weekly stormwater inspections, freeboard records, compost temperature, manure exports from the facility, and 3rd party manure transfer forms.
Mortalities are composted in a covered (6) bay compost shed. There were no uncovered hog remains observed on the day of inspection. There was no leachate observed coming from any of the compost bays on the day of inspection.
All manure from the facility is exported to Tosh Farms. Areas around the barns have been stabilized with gravel. Areas outside of the graveled areas have been stabilized with vegetation. I did not see any evidence of manure spill on the day of my inspection.
