Notes
The influent sampler is located outside the facility’s fence, which has the potential for tampering. Mr. Tatum provided photos on April 12, 2023, with locks installed on the influent sampler. The influent and effluent samplers were observed at 4.5° C and 6.0° C, respectively. Tubing for both samplers is replaced regularly and sampler bottles are cleaned with a phosphate free laboratory grade detergent between uses.
Pin floc was observed in all three clarifiers but did not appear to affect treatment. The outfall and receiving stream were reviewed during the inspection. The outfall was appropriately signed. The receiving stream has trace nutrient foam and algae growth downstream of the outfall, and greyish-white deposition, potentially from the use of Captor (calcium thiosulfate) as a dechlorinating agent. WADC maintains an active role with the Division in assessing the cause of this algae growth downstream from their facilities. Overall, no major concerns were noted during a review of the treatment system or receiving stream.
The Water Authority of Dickson County (WADC) has secured funding for installing a new lift station, and rehabilitation for the collection system within the Mt. Sinai Basin, and has conducted extensive flow monitoring studies to identify inflow and infiltration locations.
