Notes
The chemical involved is nitrocellulose wetted with alcohol. It is water soluble and affects CNS if inhaled, ingested or absorbed through the skin. Most of the water discharged had incomplete combustion of the chemical and building in it. Fire suppressant water from sprinkler system (majority of the flow) was not chlorinated according to Holliston Mills spokesman, but some of the fire trucks probably had chlorinated water from city/utility water. No distressed or dead aquatic life observed in receiving stream. American Environmental LLC vacuumed sprinkler system that had accumulated around facility in pools. Fire suppression water was monitored for pH which remained neutral.
