Still waiting on sampling results from lab. Plant has almost completed major upgrade increasing size as well as adding anaerobic and anoxic zones, and tertiary filtration for nutrient removal. Solids processing has replaced belt presses with centrifuges. Plant appeared to be in good condition, sludge blankets ~ 2 ft in clarifiers, ox ditches had minimal foam. Some pin floc in clarifiers, effluent appeared clear and was odorless. No apparent impact to receiving stream. Facility experienced treatment interference culminating in complete plant upset and loss of treatment from approx Jan-June 2022 due to industrial discharges. Responsible industry has been addressed under Smyrna's pretreatment program. Effluent exceedances relating to this event were addressed under a previous NOV from the Division and responded to by Smyrna.
