Notes
Backwash filters 1 - 3 do not appear to be functioning properly. Iron sediment was observed on top of filters after backwash completed. Filters 4 - 7 were free of sediment deposits. It was unknown when the filter media was last evaluated. Filters 1 - 3 should be investigated to determine if they are operating correctly and it is recommended that the filter media in all the filters be assessed and addressed as needed. Large clear well exterior needs to be repainted. Weeds and tall grass should be cut/controlled along facility and elevated tank fences and around wells. Some of the pipes in filter pipe gallery were rusting and paint was peeling. Repaint the pipes. Well C has a depression adjacent to the well head structure that needs to be filled to divert flow away from well head. Regularly clean the interior of the lime mixing chamber to remove large lime deposits. Also, clean the outside concrete surface of the mixing chamber. The oil drip rate on both active wells (B and C) was in excess of 30 drops per minute and should be adjusted to be approximately 6 - 10 drops per minute. This will help control the oil film that was noted on the clarifier and filter water surface. The water treatment plant is not being provided with copies of water complaints from City Hall. Keep copies of all drinking water complaints on file for 5 years.
