Pre-Mine Inspection conducted with KFO Mining Section.
There has been some activity at the mine. There was an excavator and 3 bulldozers observed at the site. It appears a previous unpermitted operation operated at the site. Facility will need to indicate how they are going to control drainage on the already disturbed area. It does not appear that the already disturbed area can currently drain to the proposed sediment basin locations.
Some disturbance has been done to a channel in the northwest portion of the site. At this point it is unknown if the disturbance is within the proposed permit boundary. There were two bulldozers with Ford Construction Company on them at this location. A hydrologic determination will need to be conducted to determine if this channel is a wet weather conveyance or a stream.
There was also another channel in the eastern portion of the site that is included within the permit boundary. A hydrologic determination will likely be requested for this drainage feature as well.
