Notes
Follow up inspection was conducted to show Mr. Chad Norton, with Ford Construction, areas where BMPs need to be improved and also look at how drainage from mining activities can be controlled until facility is able to construct basin as shown in mining plans. I had noted these BMP issues during a previous inspection on12-18-20.
While on-site Mr. Norton had personnel fix two breaks in the berm that were noted during the 12-18-20 inspection.
Additional BMPs are needed along the haul road at entrance to the site. Mr. Norton indicated they could install some enhanced rip rap check dams along both sides of the haul road to help slow water. Grading is also going to be done to direct drainage from the gravel pad area to the north to an old existing pit. Mr. Norton also indicated they could regrade slopes near entrance and bring in topsoil and sow grass on the slopes.
We also looked at how the facility plans on controlling drainage from their mining activities until the basin can be constructed as shown in mining plans. There is an old pit area that is currently receiving drainage from the mining activities. There was no discharge from this pit area observed. This old pit area runs back into the area where the proposed basin is shown in the mining plans. Facility is going to look at combining this old pit area with the proposed basin location which would make the basin larger than it was originally designed. Basin construction will need to be certified by an engineer.
