Inspection conducted as a routine inspection.
At the time of inspection, producer indicated the facility had about 7,000 – 8,000 hogs housed on-site. The waste from each of the (13) hog barns is stored in a single stage ten acre wastewater lagoon. Based on the depth marker installed in the wastewater lagoon, it appeared there was a little over 4 feet of freeboard in the wastewater lagoon on the day of inspection. The wastewater lagoon is fenced along the southern portion of it. Warning signs were also posted around the wastewater lagoon on the day of inspection. Manure from this facility is transferred to Tosh Farms.
The following records were being maintained: daily rainfall, stormwater controls inspections, waste storage system inspections, freeboard records, waterline inspections, and compost temperature. Records of manure transfers were being kept; however, they were not being kept on the appropriate record form. An appropriate record form for manure transfers was provided to the producer.
3rd Party manure transfer records were not being kept. Provided producer with a 3rd party manure transfer form. Annual manure analysis had been conducted however a copy was not available on-site. A copy will be emailed to me.
