Wastewater only generated June thru July summer camp, & for one week in December & a few weekends each year ***
Re-circulating sand filter system (outfall 002), no fencing, some tank access hatches not secured, excess vegetation on filter, effluent appeared of good quality, receiving stream showed some increased algae growth. *** Aerated treatment plant (outfall 001), no communitor, makeshift bar screens not adequate, very dark/opaque in clarifier & chlorine contact chamber, rising solids in clarifier, effluent showed some turbidity/solids in contact chamber. *** For both systems: need to improve records of analysis conducted on site & solids disposal, storage of reagents & chlorine residual meter inadequate, need to improve meter calibration, outfall 001: 1 E. coli violation & 61 pH minimum violations, outfall 002: 21 pH minimum violations. A call to contract laboratory found samples are not iced down in transit to lab, some exceed holding time, no chain of custody forms. All self-monitoring data invalid for self-monitoring purposes except settleable solids.
