Notes
Spoke with John Lambert and Bryson Helm. There is a new mayor for the Town of Jasper, the Honorable Jason Turner. The PT coordinator has requested that TDEC field office have a meeting with the new mayor to discuss the wastewater plant and compliance issues.
Currently all of the permitted industries are in compliance with their permits.
The new industry Mueller, is only discharging sanitary at this time. Their EHS person, Tina Parker, has been notified of the baseline monitoring requirements prior to discharge.
The Town of Jasper is in the process of evaluating their local limits.
The Town is planning to conduct an IWS in 2021.
Bryson Helm is planning to take the BNS test in 2021. He is also interested in obtaining the voluntary pretreatment certification when he meets the experience requirement.
Both operators have been attending training webinars during the pandemic.
I reviewed the file for Primex color compounding. Their permit was issued in October 2018 and will expire in October 2021. They are currently in compliance.
The Town is still trying to find the source of high phenols. Based on recent sampling it does not appear to be from any of the permitted industries. The sludge in the lagoons will be evaluated to determine if it is a source.
