Notes
Facility was maintaining all required records including the following: waste storage system inspections, freeboard records, stormwater control inspections, daily rainfall, daily waterline inspections, records of compost temperature, wastewater land application records (including records of how much nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium was applied), and records of soil analysis. A copy of the most recent manure analysis was also available for review. No manure is transferred from the facility. All manure is land applied using a traveling gun and reel system. The levees of the wastewater lagoon appeared to be maintained. The levees of the wastewater lagoon had recently been mowed. Stormwater is diverted away from the wastewater lagoon. At the time of inspection, there was over 4 feet of freeboard in the wastewater lagoon. Mortalities are composted on-site in a covered (8) bay compost shed. Sawdust is used as the bulking agent and carbon source. No uncovered hog remains or leachate was observed coming from the compost bays at the time of inspection. Individual NPDES permit has expired. Facility wants to switch over to the General SOP when it becomes available. Facility needs to update NMP to reflect total amount of wastewater application fields and current crop rotation. Once revised it will need to be submitted to TDA for review and approval. Discussed this with facility and consultant. Facility also needs to email John Newberry and request to switch to the General SOP permit.
