Complaint Description and Writeup
Jonathan Linder (BAE Systems/HSAAP) left voicemail for BBC on 3/6/2019 to report a brief activation of the HSAAP Area B building G6 fire suppression deluge system that morning. BBC later spoke with Mr. Linder, who stated that a mechanical failure triggered the deluge system, which ran for approximately 15 minutes before it was shut off. During the time the deluge system was on, the resultant flow overwhelmed the available building containment capacity and flowed overland to a channel leading to the Holston River via outfall 030. Mr. Linder stated that no residue was visible outside the building containment pad and that a sample of outfall 030 effluent was collected for RDX analysis. The event had ended by the time of initial report.
TAR traveled to the site to investigate the release. Site observations confirmed no evidence of explosives residue outside the building containment pad. TAR traced the path of the release to outfall 030. A written report on the incident will be submitted by BAE Systems.
