    Complaint Description and Writeup

Mr. Jonathan Pleasant, City of Elizabethton reported a 12-14-18 overflow at the Overlook Pump Station (Sterling Hills Apartments). The pump station was struck by a vehicle at approximately 4:00 PM, causing an overflow of approximately 100 gallons. The report also indicated, "We responded quickly to make repairs to the station and resume normal operation." The written report received on 12-17-18 indicated the following, "On 12/14/18 at approximately 4:00 PM our construction and maintenance crews were called out to a report of a car that ran into our Overlook pump station near Sterling Hills apartments. The crews reported that approximately 100 gallons had been pumped out into the surrounding area from the broken pipe that exits the pump station. The attending crew member immediately cut off the pumps and called in the vacuum truck to standby in case the well level got too high. The amount of overflow came from the broken or loosened coupling and either soaked into the surrounding ground or ran back into the pump station well or some of it may have made it to an adjacent storm drain. Our crew repaired the broken dresser coupling and made a temporary cover for the front portion of the pump station well cover. I have attached pictures of the before and after repair for your records. Our crews reported that any debris from the overflow was cleaned up."
