Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint Description and Writeup
Complainant (Paul Broughton)stated to JEFO that "water has a fishy taste/smell and ice cubes also has odor. JEFO forwarded the information to MEFO. Broughton stated “they” hired new public works employees and they haven’t been trained. Broughton has been there 20 years and has never experienced this and is concerned for public health."
5/20/15: LEH called complainant to discuss. Complainant indicated that water and ice from his refrigerator smelled like fish and tasted funny. He was also concerned that staff now running plant were fired from other jobs and didn't know how to run things. LEH advised that the staff appear to be knowledgeable and running things correctly and asked if he noticed the odor/taste at any other faucet. Complainant has not checked other faucets but will do so and call back tomorrow. LEH requested that DWR come to complainant's home and evaluate the water and also that other locations in Mason would be checked during the investigation. Complainant indicated he didn't want DWR to waste resources but if other faucets had same problem he would let us know and we could arrange something.
5/22/15: LEH went to Mason and investigated water at the treatment plant and at City Hall and there was no odor, discoloration or any other unusual quality about the water. Water Plant staff indicated they had not received any citizen complaints recently either. Upon returning to the office, LEH called complainant and left a voice mail with results of findings and requesting that complainant call DWR if the problems persist.
6/12/15: As of this date, complainant has not called back regarding the water.
