Complaint Description and Writeup
Tip or Complaint: There is a hog barn on Hwy 423 around the 6 mile marker and I am highly concerned because of the
hogs waste seeping into the ground and contaminating the surrounding well water, also they take the waste from these
nasty stinking animals and spray it all over the fields in the surrounding area. I refuse to believe that there is
not the possibility of the spread of diseases as a result of the feces being sprayed onto the fields, getting on
people's vehicles as they pass by the field and being inhaled, getting into their eyes and mouth by the workers
spraying it and also by people who may be out in their yards or driving down the road and having their windows down.
I worry about people getting Salmonella and/or Hepatitis and I have studied these diseases to see if they can be
caught by humans from animals and from what I have seen they most definitely can be. Something needs to be done in
order to make it so that the hog farmers must put their barns in secluded areas so that people and other animals
will not be effected by their waste. There are two homes right beside this barn and it appears the owner is building
another barn right beside the barn that is already there. I am concerned for those people and for the people in the
area who could be affected as a result of the waste being sprayed onto all the fields in the area. I feel something
needs to be done immediately to address this situation involving this barn and the many other barns run by Jimmy
Tosh in the surrounding counties.
Specific Directions: The barn is right on Hwy 423 in McKenzie, TN. The driveway to the barn is off of that highway.
I am not sure of the actual address to the barn but I know it is about six and a half miles out Hwy 423.
