    Complaint Description and Writeup

    9-15-15-- DWR received complaint of sewage release at culverted stream on south side of Hwy 11E across from Marathon Gas Station.

    9-21-15-Mosheim written overflow report received in the Johnson City EFO stated, "2" force main from apartment pump station split. Repaired line and vacumed creek from leak to end of box culvert. Flushed creek and box culvert with 40,000 gal of water from Lick Creek. Recovered that water at end of box culvert and hauled to wastewater plant. We used push brooms and cleaned the box culvert as we were flushing with the water we sucked out of Lick Creek. All the water we recovered was hauled to Lick Creek Wastewater Plant and put in drying beds." (SKV)

    9-24-15-Mr. Steve Holzerman, Mosheim WWTP informed SKV that residual sewage from the 9-15-15 overflow was being pumped from the creek and that creek water would be used to flush the creek. He inquired if a written report would have to be submitted and was informed to send in a report to the Johnson City EFO. After discussion with DWR personnel, SKV advised him later to not flush the creek with creek water and inquired of the apartment pipe repair. He said stainless steel couplings would be placed on the pipe to reduce the stress on it after the creek cleanup was completed. Mr. Bill Brown, Greene County EMA contacted SKV and requested to use creek water from Watertown Creek to flush the creek approximately 150-200 feet downstream. A pumper truck would be used to pump the flushed water out of the creek downstream. He indicated this was the only way to remove the residual sewage coating the bottom of the creek. SKV and TAR granted his request to use the creek water. (SKV)
