    Complaint Description and Writeup

Is a swale going to be enough to protect our lower properties from flooding if a road is put in, in the natural drains behind us? Sumner County has approved a supposed sidewalk (the builder stressed sidewalk but it will be 8 feet wide for UV's). that will have over 6000 square feet of asphalt going right thru some natural drains. We are very concerned about flooding. A neighbor & I have pix of 3 different times it has flooded her yard. I have read that altering Natural Drains can cause flooding. The body of water that backs up behind our properties is Bledsoe Creek. Our properties are already taking on a lot of water when the lake backs up. The meeting is public knowledge online, which I'm sure you probably know that. We are highly concerned about our properties flooding.. Isn't it against the law to alter or build on top of Natural Drains? Doesn't the Natural Flow Rule take care of this? I am enclosing some pix of the water we have taken photos of. Thank You for your time & consideration. We just do not understand why this was approved, when what we are reading says it's illegal to alter natural drains. Thank You,
