Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint Description and Writeup
Billy Shelton (BAE Systems/HSAAP) left voicemail for BBC on 9/28/2020 to report a suspected bypass of the IMP 025A UV disinfection system on 9/25/2020. Additional detail received during a discussion with Mr. Shelton on 9/30/2020 revealed that a downstream valve on the UV system remained closed for indeterminate reasons, resulting in overflow of the UV system dosing station to the sanitary WWTP first chlorine contact chamber and ultimately to outfall 025. The closed valve prevented sewage from passing through the UV system and on to the industrial wastewater treatment facility as designed. Some primary settling may have occurred in the chlorine contact chambers, and the wastewater was disinfected. However, no bypass flow biological treatment occurred. The investigation of the incident was still underway, and additional detail will be provided in a written report.
