Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint came in through AskTDEC.
"We have a house in Dickson County, TN on Lewis Hollow Road where there has been constant overflow of sewage flowing through my property from another location and has seeped under the house in addition to an issue of the lack of proper drainage. I have tried for several months to get the Water Authority to work with me to get this problem solved, to no avail. Im hoping you can put me in the right direction as to who I can talk to besides Larry Ferebee who is the Street Supervisor?"
5-6-2011 [JEH] I called Ms. Adkins. She described a sewer surcharging issue and a surface drainage issue at her son's house located at 202 Lewis Hollow Rd N 36.06113 W 87.37190. I explained that I could help with the sewage overflow issue, but not the drainage. I looked at the maps and determined that the house was built in area where the drainage had been altered.
I called the sewer department and spoke with Tim Swaw, collection system supervisor. He said that he had never known of a sewage overflow problem at this location until last week during the >4-inch rain event that occurred. During that event, his department responded to an incident where a homeowner drilled a hole in a clean-out and allowed sewage to flow onto the ground under his house.
Mr. Swaw said that he would keep an eye on the area to see if there was any other issues.
5-9-2011 [JEH] I called Ms. Adkins and gave her Mr. Swaw's telephone number. I asked that she report problems with sewage overflows to him.
