Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint Description and Writeup
11/01/2024- Complaint claims, Goodwill of Chilhowie, JC, Kingsport, and Elizabethton (all under the Goodwill in Kingsport) have a policy of flushing medications that end up in donations. The caller stated it is a policy across multiple stores and written down in their Standard Operating Procedure. The complainant claims an ex-employee was asked to flush medications. The complainant claims this was witnessed at the Elizabethton location.
11/04/2024- Called and emailed personnel with the City of Elizabethton wastewater treatment plant and pretreatment program. Told them about the complaint and advised them to direct Goodwill personnel to EPA's website regarding how flushing of medications can contaminate the environment.
