Description and Writeup
JCA received a call from TWRA on Saturday evening (11-14-15) regarding a discharge of waste from Blackjack Ridge Dairy.
JCA, SAW and TEG investigated the complaint on 11-16-15. Two separate waste discharges were discovered. The first discharge was to Potts Branch, and originated from a buried pipe at the base of the hill below pond 1. The waste was determined to be coming from the waste distribution system used to move liquid waste from the ponds to the rest of the farm. The pipe coming from the distribution system was actively discharging during our investigation and running into another pipe. This pipe appeared to lead to the buried pipe at the base of the hill. Chris Beard confirmed this during our visit.
The second discharge was to Lunns Branch, and originated at the silage storage area. A black discharge led down the hill and crossed underneath the road into a drainage that leads to an UNT to Lunns Branch. The discharge was collecting at the road during our visit, and not discharging to the stream at that time.
