    Description and Writeup

3-9-16: TWRA referred a complaint they received regarding an orange colored discharge coming from Blackjack Ridge Dairy.

JCA and SRG investigated the complaint. Upon arriving at the site it was determined that the discharge was coming from the new waste lagoon. Rainwater was being pumped from the lagoon prior to its' use. The pond had been pumped too low and muddy water was being discharged. The discharge was reaching Lunns Branch.

JCA and SRG spoke to Milton Beard while at the site. They explained that the discharge was a violation, however, because it was not a waste discharge, he did not have to sample or submit written notification.

3-10-16: JCA and TEG visit site to determine extent of harm to Lunn's Branch. The sides of the stream were coated from the discharge point down to Lick Creek. There were deposits of sediment in pools and slow areas. There was also a deposit of sediment within Lick Creek at the mouth of Lunns.

Betty King called in later in the day and spoke to Will Pride regarding concern for her drinking water. She pulls water from a spring 2-3 feet from Lunn's Branch. She was given information for a local lab where she could have a water sample collected.
