Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint Description and Writeup
Mr. Tim Jenkins called to report a stream contaminated by a sewer line break near the Griffitts's residence and to complain about the lack of notification by the STP. Jenkins reported that dead fish were found in the stream after his children waded into the stream, and he wondered what contaminants his children were now exposed to before they could exit the water. He reported that THE SEWER LINE BROKE THE NIGHT BEFORE but that a phone call was not received till sometime the next day about the time that warning signs were placed near the stream. He anted to know why there had not been an earlier notification so he could have protected his children. He expressed his thought that the late notification was due to his location being in a poor neighborhood.
We discussed in the Field Office that the STP probably did not know about the line break till the next morning and probably moved to make notification ASAP.
