    Description and Writeup

6/27 Contacted Mr. Tomlinson, his concern was the possibility that raw sewage was entering Jones creek from the WADC wastewater treatment plant.

7/3 Met Mr. Kenny Perales, Mr. Tomlinson father-in-law, at the Duke Loop address. He provided transportation to the site in his ATV. I informed Mr. Perales that using the streambed as a roadway for the ATV is not an allowable activity. At the swimming hole location there was a rocky bottom, with little fine sediment. There was an accumulation of solids in flat areas, which due to the lower flows in the creek were exposed. I suggested to Mr. Perales that the odor in the area could be attributed to the drying mud and vegetation he concurred. We lifted several hand size rocks at the stream edge, the water was clear with no accumulated sediment. There were a number of organisms on the bottom of the rocks. I explained to Mr. Perales that in polluted streams the bottom of the rocks and underlying sediment is dark and the number and type of organisms are limited. (DJE 7/9/07)
