Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint: I received these photos of raw sewage in the drainage area beside the Green's home--1011 Boxwood Drive-- on Feb. 5. I wanted to make sure you all were aware and had received this information that there appears to be an overflow problem in the same area that the Green's reported to TDEC and Cartwright Creek in June 2013. I am not sure if the Christy Green sent this to both of you in early February. I noticed from the files that there was also an overflow reported in April 2013 at 1035 Boxwood Drive. From this recent information from the Greens, it appears that the problem along this collection line has not been resolved. This line runs along Cartwright Creek in the flood plain and the drainage by the Greene's goes into Cartwright Creek at the end of the backyard.
Can you send us an update on the repairs and status of the overflows as they are provided to TDEC? We would like to stay informed. ***
On 2/5/14, Bruce Meyer, Cartwright Creek - Grassland STP, called MRT to report a SSO at the MH U/S of the aerial crossing on Cartwright Creek (behind 1037 Boxwood Dr). This was due to heavy rain in the area. Both pumps at the main PS were running & flow to the STP was about 800 gpm. The aerial crossing & the field below the STP were both underwater. ***
On 2/7/14, MRT received an email from Meyer relaying a written report on the 2/5/14 SSO. The Meyer email also contained an attachment from Lisa Sammons, Sentry Management which contained a photo of Cartwright Creek backed up behind 1011 Boxwood Dr & a request to check it out. ***
On 2/11/14, MRT conducted CEI at the Cartwright Creek - Grassland STP. During this inspection MRT visited both the SSO point from 2/5/14 & the drainage beside 1011 Boxwood Dr. Since 1011 Boxwood Dr is U/S of the SSO behind 1037 Boxwood Dr & since there is no known connection between the sanitary sewer on Boxwood Dr & the storm sewer beside 1011 Boxwood Dr, the presence of sewage in the backwater behind 1011 Boxwood Dr would not be suspected. Lime had been applied around the 2 MHs behind 1037 Boxwood Dr. No other cleanup of this area was required & the response appeared to be appropriate. The inspection report is still being prepared.
