    Complaint Description and Writeup

Complainant was calling to complain that overflows have been occurring for years in his neighborhood (Wix Ave. and Demase St. in Portland) and that the city will not address the issues. I asked if there was a specific overflow event or date that he wanted to report, which he did not, he simply wanted to express his frustration with the chronic overflow issues in his neighborhood. I explained that Portland STP and collection system has entered into a legal agreement with the Division that requires them to address chronic overflow points and conduct rehabilitation of their collection system. I provided him with my contact information and told him to please contact me to report any ongoing overflows events and that I will follow-up with the facility to determine if overflows in this area are being reported and addressed as required. 1/29/18 LKS***
Spoke with Thomas McCormick regarding chronic overflow issue in complainant's neighborhood. He said that the city has plans to conduct at least $500,000 in upgrades in that area; the eventual plan is to divert significant portions of the flow through another main line, thereby alleviating some of issues experienced in that area. He expects that the rehab work will begin sometime in the summer of 2018. 1/31/18 LKS***
