Description and Writeup
Site investigation on December 5th at his residence at 2600 Round Hill Road, Lewisburg. Mr. Jarrett is a customer of the Marshall County Board of Public Utilities. Tony Bolton, Assistant Superintendent for the utility, accompanied me during the visit. Several plumbing fixtures and appliances were inspected. The front load washer was observed first. The substance pointed out at the bottom of the door and around the hinges appeared to be rust, based on the bubbling of the finish and degradation of the metal. The substance scraped from the bottom of the commode appears to be lime scale deposition caused by moderately hard water.
Water from the kitchen sink measured free chlorine residuals of 1.5 – 1.95 mg/L. A sample was collected and analyzed at the Lewisburg Water Plant with the following results:
pH = 7.39
total alkalinity = 131 mg/L
Hardness = 130 mg/L
Iron = no detection
Orthophosphate = 0.36 mg/L
Measured parameters indicate that the water is compliant with the Safe Drinking Water Standards.
