Tip or Complaint: Raw sewage is being released and surface water contamination is occurring due to a continuous, daily overflow from the facility, in spite of efforts by the county and Town of Huntsville to mitigate the situation with pump trucks. This is an ongoing situation for the last six months. The sewage flows directly into tributaries of New River and the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River. Blame has been placed on the 180 inmates at the facility that flush forbidden items and also a shortage of repair parts due to shipment delays. The amount of raw sewage and the length of time this has been going on makes this request for intervention urgent. Unsuccessful attempt to upload size-appropriate JPEG images.
