Complaint Description and Writeup
Admin staff received a message on the phone system about Roaring Creek drying up to due to work on a lake at Ripshin Mountain. the caller was very concerned about the creek. On August 01, 2023, Franklin Colyer, Beverly Brown, and Quinten Tolliver investigated. Roaring Fork was flowing but flow would be considered low. Flow diminished the closer the creek got to the dam. Channel was never observed as being dry, or having standing water only. Franklin Colyer spoke with Danny Street of Xylem, Inc. and John Seward of the Ripshin Homeowners Association onsite about the concern and the obligation to maintain base flow in the creek during construction. They reported that the were adding pumps to continue drawing the water down in the lack as the level is below where the syphon can function. They also said construction should be concluded in 4 or 5 months.
