Work has begin back at the Quarry creek site.
This week excavators have been taking out the side of the hill beside the road (Cherohala Skyway) and all surface water runoff has been diverted straight into Quarty creek.
Please see attached photos.
Can we get someone up there to inform them they need to put in erosion control measures. It’s worse now than it has ever been. The ditch they dug in the photo is 125’ from Tellico River. In addition, every vehicle that comes out of Quarty Creek Rd. Is bringing mud and gravel with it, causing a major hazard for passing vehicles, especially motorcycles.
Yesterday we got a steady rain, I witnessed the mud flowing down the river. It was massive amounts of sediment and debris.
