    Description and Writeup

Complaint: The smell of sewage is present in conjunction with black substance on the ground. The presentation is consistent and does not seem to change over time. The best way to view it is to take the drive between the Mapco and BP stations to the truck fueling area and view it in the vicinity of yellow poles. To travel there, go west on I-24 and go to the right after exiting. Mapco is on the left. ***
On 10/31/13, MRT called Brian Carter, Adenus Operations & left a message regarding this problem. ***
On 11/1/13, Carter left a message for MRT. Carter said he had a crew on the scene & they had found a problem w/a collection system line behind the MAPCO. MRT later called Carter to confirm this information. Carter said repairs should be completed today. He will send a report on Monday. ***
On 11/1/13, MRT visited the site & observed the cracked collection system line being repaired. Elite Septic Pumping was on site & had already hauled two 4,000 gal loads to the Springield STP. The water pumped was from the drainage ditch on York Rd north of the MAPCO. They pumped water from the pit excavated for the repair, during the repair & then filled the truck with one additional load from the ditch. There was standing water in the ditch both north & south of the repair point from heavy rain the previous evening. The area around the repair point & south to the MAPCO entrance was roped off w/caution tape. Carter said he will place lime on the area when the water recedes. ***
On 11/7/13, MRT visited the site & observed that lime had been applied to the area in question.
