    Complaint Description and Writeup

Caller reported sewer overflow associated with Jones Creek facility.

7-FEB-19: Division Staff, JMF and VDL, conducted a Compliance Assistance Visit after being notified that Jones Creek STP had flooded due a significant storm event. During this storm an overflow occurred from a manhole just upstream of the STP's influent sampling location. The collection system operator has been in contact with the Division and will follow up with a detailed overflow report. The area will be cleaned once the ground is dry enough for facility staff to operator equipment in the area.

11-FEB-19: Summary of Flooding from WADC Nick Tatum - "The Jones Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant (TN0066958) sustained damage due to an unprecedented storm event that resulted in 7.08 inches of rain falling over a 5 hour period between 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm on February 6th. The creek overtopped its banks around 9:00 pm, and the water level inundated the lower portions of the WWTP. The damage from flooding included loss of a portion of the perimeter fencing along the creek, loss of the influent and effluent automatic samplers, flooding inside the lab/control building, and loss of three of the four interior baffle walls in the chlorine contact tank. A lightning strike also damaged the effluent flow meter."
