    Complaint Description and Writeup

1/31/2024 - RAB received phone call from resident of Indian Mound, TN. Complainant stated that there is a former church building with a well and apparently some pipes burst during the freeze and for the past 2-3 days water has been flowing out of the building and across the highway. Her concern is that the well is running constantly and drawing down the aquifer.

    • She said they know the building is on a well because the utility company was called and they said there was no hookup for the site, therefore it must be a well.
    • She has called the Sheriff, the county, and the Nashville EFO and she’d left messages at all those places. She had RAB's number because she’d spoken with the well program in the past about her well and the water well program was very helpful.
    • She said that the building was vacant/unused as a church except that there was a marijuana grow operation going on with a hydroponic setup, which was busted in December.
    • No one has tried to contact/or has been unable to reach the landowner who may reside out of state, possibly in New York.

RAB said that our section might now have jurisdiction but would discuss with manager.

02/01/2024 - Complainant called RAB and at first didn't recognize that they had spoken the day before. Once acknowledged, RAB & complainant discussed situation. Complainant stated that they or their neighbors had contacted the county mayor's office who was aware of the situation and was working on it from their end. RAB reiterated that the Program didn't have jurisdiction in this matter, especially since the mayor's office was working to address the problem.
