    Description and Writeup

Complainant states "I don’t if anyone has reported raw sewage is running down 2nd Street South in front of the bar Barstools and it is running into drains. It smells and there is too paper everywhere."

Metro water investigated and found the issue, they renewed the service line. They said "Overall the it’s a situation involving some old infrastructure & something we wouldn't allow with today's codes. It's a 6" sewer line with cleanouts that's serving from multiple businesses. A portion of this service from the sidewalk to the main in the street was found to neckdown from 6" to 4". Additionally, the building at the neckdown point was removed and made into a parking lot. Somewhere in this deconstruction, the service was damaged and allowed gravel to enter the sanitary system.

Upon excavating, identifying the issue, the repair team removed the 4" piping and replaced it with 6in PVC all the way to the service tap at the main. It’s our guess the 4” piping happened during an unauthorized repair by a utility contractor that stuck the line.
