Description and Writeup
Received voicemail concerning complaint of strong sewer odor in neighborhood. Called Mr. Lane to discuss concerns. He said that the whole neighborhood always has strong odor of sewage and the smell is so strong that it prevents him from going outside. He also stated that his neighbor's sewer line is tied directly into his line instead of feeding into the sewer main line. Mr. Lane stated he has not seen any overflows or evidence of such. I told him that I will contact Portland's Sewer District to inform them of the issue. I did let him know that without evidence of a water quality violation or impact to waters of the state, there is unfortunately not very much DWR can do to compel the utility district to act. Spoke with Superintendent of Portland's Water and Sewer Depart. Thomas McCormick. Informed him of nature of complaint. Complainant has filed numerous complaints with the city. Mr. McCormick stated that he will speak with maintenance personnel to increase feed rate of odor suppressant chemical in that neighborhood to help decrease odor issue. LKS 7/19/17 ***
