Description and Writeup
Mr. Ed Mullins, City of Elizabethton reported a private lateral line (broken cleanout) at 2204 Edgewood Ave., Elizabethton, overflowed approximately 50 gallons. Mr. Mullins sent an e-mail on 1-3-18 indicating, "Yesterday at approximately 9:00 a.m. we investigated a sewer line break on a customer's lateral at 2204 Edgewood Ave. At least 50 gallons of sewage had already made its way out of the customer's broken cleanout and down their private driveway. Because of a blockage or pipe collapse, incoming wastewater was continuing to flow at the cleanout. The City has a right of way on this road to access the Sabine water tank. However, after investigating it was determined that the blockage and repairs were located on a private line and the customer was informed that they would need to contact a plumber to correct the problem. The Department will follow up with codes enforcement to ensure the issue is corrected. Because of freezing temperatures, crews did call in for the road to be salted in order to provide safe access to the tank."
