Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint Description and Writeup
Owner recently purchased three more parcels of land nearby: one on Fall Creek Road and two more on Gwynn Road. Neighbors fear that he is planning to expand his junk yard as he has cleared 12-acres (without any sort of sediment control) at the corner of Gwynn and Fall Creek Roads.
In addition, the junk yard operates on property zoned Residential, which violates Wilson County ordinance. The property is surrounded by residential parcels and homes, many of whom still consume well water. There are large piles of old tires stacked at the back of the property, and it is rumored that they have been accepting Mercury Switches. I suspect that some of these rumors are generated because A-1 was once registered to the national mercury switch recovery program.
A site visit with the Wilson Co. MS4 and Wilson Co. Development Director showed that the site is operating an auto salvage yard without a TMSP. A NOV was issued to the Owner.
A TMSP NOI and SWPPP was submitted to the TDEC Central Office.
