Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint Description and Writeup
6/10/16, caller reports that yesterday sewage was suddenly flying out of toilets in both bathrooms, kept up for 10 minutes, sprayed in her face & all over her, sprayed all over walls, & there was 2 inches of water on floors. She mopped it up & cleaned everything with bleach & Pinesol. She talked to a workman with company outside on the street & he said it was just clean water where they were cleaning he sewer lines, not to worry about it. She was worried because there was sewage material that came out into the house. She later talked to someone else with the company & they apologized & offered to do any more cleanup that was needed. She called city hall & was told it was a contractor doing the work & the city had nothing to do with it. She wants to know if there is any more cleanup needed. I advised her that cleaning the hard surfaces with bleach should be enough, but the walls may also need cleaning. She found out that 2 other homes had the same thing happen. Linda Holland residence also on Indian Creek Road, and Susan Smith residence on Hwy 70. This occurred in days before it happened at her home. I advised her I would contact the city, their consulting engineers, & the contractor to make sure this is prevented in the future & to make sure they provide any additional cleanup that is needed. *AER* 6/10/16, Called city hall & explained to Vicki Moran what the problem was (Mayor Ross was out of town until Monday) & that the contractor & city personnel needed to contact the affected sewer customers & assist with cleanup, & prevent this from occurring again during the line cleaning if possible. Also explained this was a serious health hazard & must be reported as an overflow from the sewers. I requested a call back from the mayor as soon as he returned. I called & left messages for the city's consulting engineers so they could help with the situation. *AER* 6/13/16, talked with Matthew Johnson, consulting engineer, & explained the situation & requested he help the city & contractor deal with the problem. He offered to contact the complainant to discuss cleanup. He said all the affected homeowners were contacted & did not want any help with cleanup. I advised him I would call the complainant & provide his name & number so she could contact him to talk about whether any more cleanup is needed to prevent a health hazard. 6/13/16, left a message for the complainant with contact information. 6/13/16, called J.P. Burden with Hydromax USA (812-305-6386) & left message for call back.
