Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint Description and Writeup
11/26/2023: Writeup from AskTDEC: "In accordance with section 118 (a) of the Tennessee Water Quality Control Act, I am submitting this water quality complaint. You will observe in the foreground of the attached picture that the biosolids have been spread up to the creek as well as cattle being present. The area of concern is at the entrance of Thomas Road and on the left just before the cattle grate. Only one upload is allowed through this channel; however I have several more pictures that can be viewed. This is as of 11/26/2023.
I am downstream from this location with no other tributaries. I recently had my creek tested for PFAS and PFOS which was completed by The Sierra Club. The testing came back with positive results for both PFAS and PFOS (forever chemicals).
Based on what I was told by TDEC, spreading Biosolids this close to a creek with cattle grazing in that applicable field, is not within regulations.
We have observed many other cattle fields, on this same date and location, with cattle grazing and fresh Biosolids having been applied (Pictures are available).
This is an ongoing issue with no legitimate supervision or concern and the problem is only growing day by day. When will the regulations be enforced?"
