Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint via phone on 12/16/20 - JGL
Complainants Description:
Commercial gravel trucks have alternated their exit route from the mine onto a secondary road. This traffic has caused severe damage to the road next to the complainants home (road surface degradation, collapsed culverts, etc). Additionally, excessive rock dust and debris as a result of this traffic has become a nuisance and health issue to the homeowner. Amy said the county came in and put a temporary resurface on the road and repaired some of the culverts, but the resurface has already been destroyed. - JGL
Kevin Smith and I will investigate. - JGL
Complaint Conclusion:
Kevin and John investigated on 12/18/20 and additionally conducted a site inspection to determine compliance with their stormwater permit.
The issue complained about is outside of our jurisdiction. The trucks exiting the mine altered their route down the county road because of a steep grade on the access road in front of the mine entrance. The road has had culvert replacements, ditch cleanout, and tar & chip resurface completed on it. - JGL
Called complainant on 12/21/20 with the outcome of our investigation and explained that the items observed were outside of our jurisdiction. Referred her to the county road commission in regards to future road concerns. - JGL
