Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint Description and Writeup
I live in Clarksville, Tn. I have literally thousands of gallons of raw sewage running through my yard and into a ground water collection drain, this is an on going problem and I am requesting information on what to do about it. Today it started and several kids playing on a swing set were suddenly playing in a raw sewage creek.
Thank you.
An overflow occurred on Tuesday, April 11, and ceased on April 12. A contractor damaged a nearby sewer line on Trenton Road which required the Hazelwood #1 lift station to shut down in order to repair the damaged sewer line. Due to the length of time the repair required, the lift station overflowed onto the complainant's property. The City of Clarksville inspected the site on April 14th at 8:15 am. Lime was discovered in the backyard due to the clean-up activities on April 12. The City of Clarksville left a voicemail to the complainant and is awaiting a return phone call from the complainant.
Email from the City of Clarksville sent to the Division on 17-APR-23:
Our office received a call from [address] saying there was sewer in the backyard from the recent overflow on Tuesday, April 11 through Wednesday, April 12. I inspected the site on April 14th at 8:15 am. I found that lime was in the backyard from where it had been spread after cleaning up from the overflow on Wednesday. I called Elli at [phone number] at 8:34 AM.. The call went to voicemail, I left my name and my cell number and advised him that I was with Clarksville Gas and Water and asked him to return my call.
I spoke with the complainant on April 18 informing him of the cause and response to the overflow affecting his property. He requested more lime to be applied to his property due to his backyard has children frequent his trampoline and swingset. The City of Clarksville applied more lime once I informed them of the complainant's request.
