Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint Description and Writeup
Mr. Anderson called to notify that a large rain event was occurring and that his stream was running cloudy. He asserts that the cause of his stream is limestone siltation from the nearby quarry (TN0061069).
Site investigation by JABo and LTI. Investigated the quarry area, Marbleton Rd west of Buffalo Creek, Mr. Anderson's property, and Interstate 26. Took photos of each location. All drainage leaving the entrance tunnel to the quarry is being directed to the basin at the exit. No discharge was occurring from outfall 001. Observed Mr. Anderson's creek and found that it was being fed from two culverts. It appears that they are fed by interstate drainage (from opposite side of interstate). Mr. Anderson asserts that one of the culverts is a cave that is connected to the quarry. I advised him that the assertion is outside our abilities to investigate and that he would need to hire a geologist or hydrologist to investigate. It appears that the cloudiness of his creek is caused by runoff from the interstate and rain events.
