Hello. We live in Ridgefields in Kingsport, TN. We have a boat and go fishing in the Holston River from the boat ramp off Netherland Inn Rd. We are concerned with the “slime” we are seeing in the river near the boat ramp and north and south of there in the Holston River. There are large amounts of it floating in clumps in the river. It makes fishing nearly impossible as the slime gets stuck all over fishing lures. We pulled our boat out and it was also on our boat. I didn’t get a picture but it’s a green/brown slimy substance. We have also seen several dead carp fish floating in the river. There was a strong odor about a week ago along the same areas of the river that smelled like some type of acid similar to muriatic acid. Please look into this as it is certainly concerning.
