Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint: They had sewage backup into the basement for the 3rd time on 7/26/14 about 1430 hours. The sewer system overflow (SSO) stopped later that evening. The SSO began again the next morning & continued into the evening. Roger Leamasters, Springfield Water & Sewer Dept supt was called but has not returned the complainants call. The city didn't pay for cleanup of the 1st SSO to the home but did finally pay for the cleanup of the 2nd SSO. The sewage entered the home thru the drain for the washing machine. When speaking w/city worker on 7/27/14, the complainant was told that they were getting nothing but mud out of the line. The city later dug up the line in front of their house to repair a collapsed line. ***
On 7/30/14, MRT spoke w/Chris McKissic, Springfield Sewer Dept. McKissic worked the incident on 7/27/14. He said this is a 6" clay line (4' sections). They were able to TV about 50' from either MH from the blockage. They finally had to dig up the line in front of this location & punch into the line & flush the blockage D/S. They don't do routine cleaning in this area. MRT noted that an SSO report for this incident had not been sent. ***
MRT also spoke w/Roger Lemasters, director SWWD that same day. He said the homeowner was provided a list of companies that could do cleanup. A claim will be submitted to their ins. If the ins rejects it SWWD will still pay for cleanup but not repair or replacement of items. This information was relayed to the complainant.
