    Description and Writeup

    To whom it may concern,

My name is XXXXXX and I live at XXXXXXXXXXX., Nolensville, TN 37135.

For the past few weeks, I have been smelling a strong odor in my backyard, front of the house, and in my garage. I have had this pump station on the back of my property since I moved here in 2013. Over the last few months, I had noticed there was a truck at the station often and a piece of equipment had been added along with some hoses. After receiving a few calls from my neighbors, (one was a neighbor that lives another street over from me), I went out and looked at the pump station. I saw that the diamond plated door was cracked open with a hose going into it and the lock was zip tied to the door handle. I called the number for Metro WS on Sunday Nov. 19th and let them know about the issue. I reached out again the next day because the smell was prevalent that afternoon. I asked if they could resolve this issue. After coming home that evening I noticed that there was a huge urinal cake fastened to the pipe and someone had welded a hole in the door to feed the hose through. It was at that point that I decided to reach out to a few people that deal with environmental science at a university and was told that this seemed to be a violation of the Clean Water Act and potentially the Clean Air Act. I would like to request that someone come out to inspect and determine if there is a violation of any laws.

I will be sending a few more emails with pictures of before and after shots of the pump station along with a short video that I took.

If someone could reach out to me regarding this situation and help, get this situation resolved. If this is not something that is dealt with from your office, I would appreciate any help with who I need to speak with moving forward.

30-NOV-23: MPM contacted Metro Water Services to inform them of the nature and location of the complaint. Metro informed the Division an odor control device was recently installed and left a voicemail to the homeowner regarding the nature of the complaint. Metro installed an odor block near the air vent of the lift station as an additional countermeasure to the odor.

4-DEC-23: DGP contacted the homeowner for a follow-up on the current conditions of the lift station via voicemail.
