Complaint Description and Writeup
Complaint Description and Writeup
Complainant contacted TDEC office regarding sewage overflowing from a manhole on proper and backing up into the residence. Sandra Vance spoke with complainant and Mr. Tony Bible with the Greeneville Health Dept. regarding the issue. Sandra Vance informed me of the situation and I contact William Ross with GWC to inquire about action taken on the part of GWC. At 9:20am on 2/12/20 I spoke with William Ross and he was currently on-site at the residence. He informed me that GWC is planning to pump sewage from the adjacent lift station in an effort to remove pressure on the check valve in the lateral to the residence causing a backup of internal plumbing. He stated that he has afforded to provide a hotel room for the complainant and spouse until the issue is resolved. Complainant decline this offer. GWC personnel provided a portable toilet at the residence in the meantime. At 9:25am I left a voicemail for Mr. Rhodes to inform him that the Division was aware of the situation and provided my contact information. At 10:15am Mr. Rhodes contacted me and we discussed the current situation. He stated that the issue has persisted for the past 5 years and that GWC would send a pump truck when the manhole would overflow.
Update 2/18/2020-
GWC installed a grinder pump at the residence to address the issue of sewage from the residence not being able to flow. This pump installation was finalized on 2/17/2020.
