    Description and Writeup

Mr. Chris Hook, Town of Mountain City reported overflows at 378 Industrial Park (2-8-18)and manhole no. AA-00 (Mountain City WWTP)(2-11-18). The sewer jet was used to open the backed up line at 378 Industrial Park. A written report will be submitted to the Johnson City EFO. The report received on 3-12-18 indicated the WWTP overflow (manhole no. AA-00) went from 2-11-18 at 1:00 PM until 2-12-18 at 4:30 PM with an estimated volume of 36,000 gallons. The report also stated, "This was a wet weather overflow. We check all of the normal manholes and they did not over flow." The cause of the overflow was heavy rain and cleanup was done (shovel, rake & lime). The report received on 7-27-18 for the 378 Industrial Park overflow indicated, "This happened at the Tsubaki Nakashima Plant in the Industrial Park. It was outside the Sewer system in their gravel parking lot....The city put in the sewer jet and cleaned the service going toward the customer. When the jet cleared the obstruction was a large amount of paper towels that came through the manhole. There was no debris from the overflow. The water coming up from the overflow was clear. The factory makes ball bearings and uses water to cool." The report also indicated the overflow went from 1:15-3:00 PM with an estimated volume of 30 gallons.
